The Budget Lab Tax Policy Seminars: The Child Tax Credit

The Child Tax Credit has undergone a series of changes in the past decade, having been temporarily expanded by both the first Trump and the Biden administrations. It remains an issue of bipartisan interest, with proposals for its reform and expansion coming from both parties. The current iteration, expanded by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, is set to expire this year, which would cut its value by half or more.

Please join us for the second in this series on tax reform in the context of TCJA expiration and the year ahead in federal tax policy. Vox Senior Correspondent and Lead Writer Dylan Matthews will moderate a discussion with:

  • Megan Curran, Director of Policy, Center on Poverty and Social Policy at Columbia University

  • Joshua McCabe, Director of Social Policy, Niskanen Center

  • John Ricco, Associate Director of Policy Analysis, The Budget Lab
